As a speech therapist of 14+ years, I am excited to share these speech therapy exercises with you. They are easy-to-use and will make the time you spend on speech therapy at home more valuable.

This post is all about speech therapy exercises.

Use A Mirror | Speech Therapy Exercises

The first trick to doing speech therapy at home is using a mirror! Feedback helps, especially when practicing speech sounds.

Go Backwards! | Speech Therapy Exercises

Use backwards chaining to teach words. Start with the last syllable and work your way to the front. For example, for the word butterfly.

1st FLY 2nd TER 3rd BUT Review the word backwards a few times and then say it normally "Butterfly" This is especially helpful for kiddos who drop the ending syllables and/or sounds!

Record It | Speech Therapy Exercises

Use the video feature on your phone and record. Play it back and have your child rate themselves. Did they meet their goal? Record yourself as well saying the goal correctly and incorrectly and have your child score you as well.

TIP: ALWAYS demonstrate the activities you are asking your child to do.

Make It Fun | Speech Therapy Exercises

Make your at home practice fun. Use songs, walks in the park, games and other entertaining ways to target your speech goals.
